On April 3, 2023, David Wayne Turner allegedly struck three women at the Cares Campus homeless shelter, resulting in the tragic death of Michelle Jardine. Additionally, Christina "Diamond" Roman and her daughter, Clarissa Roman, suffered severe injuries in the incident. Turner's mug shot was taken at Washoe County Jail, and the details were captured in a screenshot by KOLO.

According to a report by Law And Crime on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, David Wayne Turner, a homeless man, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal murder of Michelle Jardine and the severe injuries inflicted upon Christina "Diamond" Roman and her daughter, Clarissa Roman.

The incident unfolded at the Cares Campus homeless shelter in Reno, Nevada, where the victims were volunteering for their family's weekly routine of aiding the homeless.

Turner's rampage, which occurred on April 3, 2023, targeted innocent individuals, intending to cause harm and ensure his return to prison. In court documents, Turner chillingly expressed his disregard for consequences, stating, "I'm done. I'm 57 years old, and I'm done."

The prosecution revealed that Turner drove his Jeep into the crowd at approximately 50 miles per hour, resulting in Michelle Jardine's tragic death and life-altering injuries to Diamond and Clarissa Roman.

The court proceedings unfolded with Turner pleading guilty in September 2023.

During sentencing, victim impact statements from Jardine's daughter, Angelina Blare, and the Roman family shed light on the profound impact of Turner's actions.

Hence, Diamond Roman suffered a broken back in two places, while Clarissa Roman faced a litany of injuries, including two broken clavicles, a broken ankle, broken ribs, collapsed lungs, severe road rash, and a brain bleed leading to a stroke.

Prosecutor Chris Hicks emphasized the long-lasting effects of Turner's selfish act, stating, "The physical, mental, and emotional impacts of Mr. Turner's actions will be felt by Clarissa, Christina, and the loved ones of Michelle for the rest of their lives."

Turner, in addition to a life sentence, received 20 years for two counts of attempted murder with three deadly weapon enhancements.

Therefore, the sentencing brought a mix of relief and grief to the victims' families, with hopes that it allows them to find some peace as they navigate the challenging journey ahead.

Furthermore, the report suggests that the case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of the homeless population and the profound consequences of unchecked violence within the community.
