Disgusting dad grounds daughter for a  week, starting period too early

A 'pathetic' dad has been slammed after revealing how he punished his daughter for starting her period 'too early' - as social media users share their upset for the young girl

While most girls start their periods at around 12 years old, there's no 'correct' age when menstruation should begin. Periods start when your body is ready - and this could be as early as eight years old or as late as 17 years old for some girls.

However, it seems one "disgusting dad" didn't know this when punishing his daughter for starting her period "too early". In a Quora post, he said: "My daughter just had her period. I grounded her for a week and took her phone for a month. Should I do more?"

Disgusted, users jumped into the comment section to condemn the father for his reaction to a "very natural" part of life. One user said: "Are you out of your mind?! Menstruation is part of growing up for a girl. The release of the hormones during puberty is regulated by the brain (i.e. Involuntary) you massive ignorant, uneducated twit! I feel bad for your daughter to have such a moron for a parent. Get yourself a clue."

Another user added: "I hope that you are not serious. You are completely out of line for even thinking about punishing your daughter. You should have educated her long before it happened and given her the necessary supplies."

A third user said: "In case you missed it, menstruation is a natural phenomenon. When you or your partner did not menstruate for nine months, you had a daughter. A girl getting her period is not anything you should punish her for. When she first starts it, she needs your support, not shame or punishment. As for 'doing more,' read a few books on parenting a teen!"

However, elsewhere, a dad has been praised for his response after a teacher asked him to "verify that she is menstruating", rather than simply taking her word for it. He explained how his teenage daughter returned home from school upset because she was made to participate in a PE lesson while in pain due to her period.

She was told her dad would need to "verify" this before allowing her to sit out the class. Outraged by the teacher's request, the dad wrote her a sarcastic letter asking exactly how he'd like her to "verify" this very personal information about his young daughter.

The letter, which has been shared on Reddit, starts: "Mrs. [NAME REMOVED]. My daughter informed me that I needed to write a note to you verifying that she is menstruating. "My first thought was to simply say, 'yes, she is indeed quite difficult to deal with this week'. However, that sounds very chauvinistic. Then I thought a simple, 'yes, she is on her period' would suffice.

"However, additional moments of thought on the topic made me realise that I was merely taking her word for it. Her word was not good enough for PE class, so I’m not sure why her word through me as a mediator would have any more validity.

He then saw him chase after Battista, who had run out of the house, and tackle her to the ground. He witnessed Weigel stabbing Battista repeatedly in the upper body.

The officer tried to intervene, but Weigel got up and ran toward Interstate 295. He stabbed himself in the right side of his neck while fleeing.

Another officer arrived and used a taser to subdue him. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for surgery.

The first officer attempted to save Battista's life by applying pressure to her wounds. She was transported to a hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.

The police recovered a knife at the scene, which they believe was the murder weapon. They also obtained body camera footage from the officers who apprehended Weigel.

The footage showed Weigel saying that he "lost it" after finding out that Battista was cheating on him.

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said that Weigel and Battista had a brief relationship of two months, and had broken up about two months before the killing.

She said that the prosecution will seek a first-degree murder conviction for Weigel.

Chief Kenneth D. Coluzzi of the Lower Makefield Township Police Department called Weigel a "coward" and praised the officers for their quick and brave response.

He said that Weigel stabbed Battista about 15 times, with two of them being "vital" injuries.

Battista's friends and family remembered her as a bright and kind person who had a positive impact on many people's lives.

Her childhood friend Lucy Hossler told WPVI that she was "such a light" and that she was "always smiling."
