LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) - A woman was arrested after police say she ran off with unpaid groceries and dropped a 3-year-old child in the process.

Jacariah Girton, 21, walked out of a Walmart in Louisville, Kentucky, on Dec. 17 with about $100 to $150 of groceries that she did not pay for, according to arrest documents.

When Walmart Loss Prevention tried to stop her, she fled and dropped the child on the ground before driving away.

EMS was called to check on the child and the mother of the child was contacted.

The mother helped police identify the suspect.

Girton turned herself in on Monday. She is charged with wanton endangerment and shoplifting
