MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Nearly two years after police say a Memphis mother was shot in the head in front of her children, the suspected shooter has been arrested and charged.
Memphis police arrested 22-year-old Briana Gilmore on Thursday on charges of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and three counts of reckless endangerment of a deadly weapon.
Police say that on the night of March 28, 2022, Gilmore got into a fight with another woman in the parking lot of Hillview Apartments in South Memphis. The two women were arguing beside the victim’s car, which held her three small children: a four-year-old, a three-year-old, and a two-month-old baby.
Police say Gilmore resorted to gunfire and shot the mother of three in the head mid-argument as her three kids watched.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground next to the car, and her three kids still inside. The mother was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Just days after she was hospitalized, the victim was able to identify Gilmore as her shooter to investigators, according to the arrest affidavit.Gilmore is being held on a $200,000 bond and is set to appear in court Monday morning.
