Vandi was reported to have consumed a chemical substance suspected to be rat poison and died two hours after her lover, Nuhu Boniface was pronounced dead after a brief illness.

A22-year-old female community health worker, Florence Vandi has committed suicide.

She reportedly ended her life a few hours after her boyfriend died.

The incident happened on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in Viniklang, a satellite town across the Jimeta bridge on the outskirts of Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, saying, "The 22-year-old deceased killed herself on 12th December, 2023.

"The command received a report that a 22-year-old lady identified as Florence Vandi has committed suicide by drinking a liquid substance suspected to be ‘otapiyapiya’.

"The deceased took the unfortunate decision a few hours after the death of her boyfriend known as Nuhu Boniface who died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

"Investigation further revealed that until her death, Florence was a health worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre.”

"The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola who expressed sadness over the incident, advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their hands and report any suspicious movement around their neighbourhood to the police," Nguroje added.
